Welcome to the Ka’u Coffee Exchange. What makes Ka’u coffee special? High altitudes, rich soil in the southwest region of the island and hard work by farmers who love what they do. The ever-evolving coffee from Ka’u region has won prestigious awards in national and international cupping competitions such as the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s Roasters Guild. We are eager to share our distinctly sweet, aromatic and complex coffee in it’s birthplace – the beautiful Ka’u District on Hawai’i’s Big Island.
- “My favorite thing about coffee farming is seeing the trees grow, making something beautiful. I love that. You have to feed the trees and not let them get stressed. Then they will produce good coffee.
What I would like to see for Ka’u coffee in the future is the equipment and facilities to do everything here, all the processing. That would turn Ka’u coffee into an industry for Ka’u. That would be great.”
-Manuel Marques, Farmer at Cloud Rest Coffee Park
Manuel’s coffee is entirely hand-picked, processed in small batches and sun dried.
